140cc ebay vega

Post  Thackers on Sun Aug 28, 2011 5:38 am

Who else has there eye on this one, not me from a buying point more of interest what it will sell for. It's been in scootering twice, once when painted blue and as it is now. I think it has the old Kawasaki piston & reed valve tune. I was tempted when it went on ebay the first time but i'd just got the one i have, but when i saw it in scootering in it's blue paint it made my mind up to get a vega go for the bigger cc conversion.
Going back to it's tuning, those kwaka pistons are like hens teeth, what are the options if you have a nip up? Megga expensive me thinks.

Your of course right with the Kawasaki piston Daz, but would you be able to swap one for the other? I thought the TZR was smaller across the bore and height but i could be wrong (usually the case)

thackers, you could be right as i've never had the two side by side to compare.
i did though do a quick scan on google regarding the pistons and another firm mitaka or something like that have remade them, apparently very good quality at a reasonable price.

Dose not look like its going to meet its reserve, which is ambitious in my opinion.

I googled Mitaka pistons after your suggestion. It turns out the KH piston is 57mm same as a starstream bore but the prices are way expensive as the bike there for was made in the 70s £215 for three. I can't find anything on a TZR 150, only 125 and 250. Did they bore out the 125cc to 150cc with a conversion piston?

the J type (standard) known as 125 is really only 122cc and with a 59mm you get about 131cc and the cylinder wall at it's thinnest point is really too thin and some times distorts the cylinder.
this is often shown-up by blueish rings on the surface of the bore between the exhaust port and the top of the cylinder and this is the main reason innocenti J's start at 122cc to leave enough meat on the cylinder for a good selection of safe oversize's Shocked
