Vega LTH reed up and running

Post  gc on Mon Mar 26, 2012 8:50 am

Well chuffed Daz !
Regarding as it was before - like chalk and cheese really.
Will now pull 4th easily ( Starstream box ) but as I haven't done enough miles on it yet, have a bit of learning to do about it yet.
Top speed - won't know 'til it's run in properly but the performance will be due to the tune and reed block mainly - the pipe does look nice though Wink

Very nice, I've had the reed block for a year or two now and just haven't had time to fit it.I presume you cut windows in the piston for 360 degree inlet and is it a Yam TZ piston? I have the same pipe too Very Happy

Moved on from that version now and have the Atomic reed block on a different barrel,Kawasak ipiston now. Neater and more compact with over 10hp at Chiselspeed's dyno last week.

WOW double figures on the H.P sounds great, well done. You say you have a different barrel, which did you go for or is it a different starstream one? It's funny I was just looking at some KH400 pistons the other day, the prices seemed reasonable is that the one you have gone for? I have already had my barrel re-bored for the tzr piston 59mm so I guess the KH ones are out now as the ones I viewed were 57mm.
My only concern is that with the tzr type at 59mm where do you go if it nips up etc??

Barrel n piston was 1 I tried before, just piston port, but didn't work. Reed block n a bit of magic gives a new lease of life to it. Pistons are available in 2 oversizes after this so no worries there.

Hi Thackers, KH400 go to 57mm I think, we are using KH500 Pistons which go to from 59 to 63? with .5mm oversizes, so no issues there. Just can be a hard to get sometimes.

Wack, sell the LTH & get a mini Atomic, drops straight on without any cutting of fins or inlet packers, we just made a 20mm packer to go between manifold & Rubber to clear CC & drill out the back hole on manifold to 8mm. As above using KH500 piston, as you say just need to cut windows in.

Cookie said best Vega tune hes' had on the Dyno, 10+HP & 8+ Torque. it rides lovely Wink

P.S. Cookie mentioned that he's nearly got new a stronger rod kit sorted for Starstream cranks...Superb
