Centre beam fixing and more!

Post  Snails on Wed Jul 31, 2013 6:14 am

Hi

I'm trying to buy all my fixings preferably in stainless steel

Can anyone tell me what fixings are used to secure the centre beam at the bottom? They don't appear to be threaded holes in the frame but I can't see a way to use a nut and bolt.

Also I'm thinking of using stainless bolts for the head set clamp and fork links. Does it matter if the thread runs the whole length of the bolt?

Hi, I think they are self tappers! with a cup washer on top but a rubber washer between the cover and the raised bracket underneath - very fiddly to fit the rubber washer unless you fit the screw, cup washer and rubber washer and then offer it all up sort of pre assembled.

Thanks Paul. Think you are right as that's what I had fitted when I dismantled but thought the self tapers was some sort of bodge
