Vega piston

Post  storkfoot on Fri Apr 10, 2015 1:24 pm

Having decided to go standard on my Vega project, I've just spent ten minutes searching the internet for Vega pistons:

http://www.lambretta.co.uk/shop/piston-vega-p-2814.html

http://www.lambretta-teile.de/Kolben-464mm-standard-Lambretta-Lui-Vega-75_1

http://www.jockeys-boxenstop.de/shop/en/kolben-lui-luna-vega-cometa-75-47-0mm-kompl.html

GOL never used to have a great reputation, although I do recollect running one without problem on a 175 conversion.

Any recommendations please?

I've just fitted a GOL piston mainly because I couldn't find anything else. Not run scoot yet though.

There was a chap on the luna facebook group that seemed to be selling several NOS pistons one or two days ago. Think he was based in NZ though. Maybe of some help?

He was. As luck would have it ,he had exactly the size I was looking for, 46.8 to match the rings I've managed to get. How weird is that? The other one was for a standard bore, 46.4. He's an expat Brummie living near Christchurch, NZ.

Thanks for that, just measured my barrel and it is still on standard bore so I have sent this lad in NZ a message.

Yep, I have swapped messages with the lad in NZ. Hopefully, I shall have a good quality piston for the same price as a GOL

They are indeed, Ed. I got a bit of a shock to be honest.

I have almost stripped the engine now and I can't get away from the feeling that I have been working on a model aircraft Shocked

Wait till you drive it. It's a really odd feeling going from large to small frame scooter when you've not driven one or the other for a while.
