SIP speedos

Post  Scooter Paul on Sun Aug 23, 2015 8:27 am

In Scootering this month an article about SIP digital speedos/ Rev counter etc etc conversion for small frame Vespas. I believe they're the same size as Luna line speedos. Not for the purist maybe but one for the modified bikes?

Picking up on the point above, is it true then a Vespa smallframe speedo will fit the LUI? If so, what cable would you use to connect to a LUI hub drive?

In other words, are both ends of an available cable compatible with the fixings on the speedo and the hub drive?

I've fitted a Vespa speedo to a Vega. The cable was the 'small' size. I put a length of heat shrink tube at the speedo head End to pad it out and it, surprisingly, still works.

Cheers Paul, that sounds like a plan then Very Happy I have been searching for an original Veglia speedo and they're as rare as hens teeth, I assume the smallframe Vespa speedos are more readily available.

I will now search for info on what Vespa models fall into "smallframe".

The speedo I've used is shown on the Allstyles website under Vespa speedos as V90.

Hi Paul, thanks for the advice, just ordered it from Allstyles Very Happy

Patch from Scooter Surgery is supplying the hub drive and associated cable.

Happy days.
